Did you know Newquay boasts a third of the top graded holiday parks and campsites in the south west? There are approximately 220 graded Parks in Cornwall which have received official gradings by the AA or English Tourism Council (ETC). Of the 220 parks, 27 are graded as five star and Newquay is home to eight of them. In total, Newquay has 37 Parks offering a great range of quality accommodation and facilities to visitors. 18 of the parks (half of them) have received a top grade four (excellent) or five (exceptional) grading and three of the Parks have an equivalent four or five AA Pennant rating.

So, you decided to be at one with nature. You decided to take the kids back to basics. You wanted to live the simple life for a week or so. Then it rains. And then it pours. Don’t worry – all is not lost. You can still have a great camping trip; you just need to take a few simple precautions. Try and make the wet weather a part of the experience. Pull on the wellies, grab a mac and start splashing in those puddles. Afterall, getting wet can be fun (we all enjoy going for a swim on holiday, right?)

By and large children love camping – even when it rains. It is easy to imagine children camping during a warm summertime week but a change of weather can leave you unprepared and lost for ideas. A prepared camper will have thought about the pitfalls of living outside and will see any adversity in the weather as just another chance to enjoy something different.
